Heart and Soul Yoga:

Heart and Soul Yoga: About the Instructor About the Instructor Class Schedule - Winter 2003 - Spring 2003 Contact Us & Registration Form Dance Energization Exercises Group Lessons Home Jala Neti Laghoo Shankha Prakshalana Private Lessons Supplies Workshops & Seminars Yoga Nidra Massage Meditation Counseling About the Instructor      My name is Tina Taylor; once upon a time, I was Christina Marie Stalberg. I grew up in the woods in California, took my bachelor's degree in Nursing at Montana State University, and ten years later, completed my master's degree in Counseling in Pennsylvania.      I have always studied dance and nutrition,  and I trained and worked for about 15 years as a massage therapist as well. Along the way, a marriage came and went, bringing me my two amazing daughters, Shaloma and Keturah. I mostly raise the girls, work as a college and adult education instructor, and just started up Heart and Soul Yoga in October of 2001.  We've lived in Corvallis, Oregon since May of 2000.  We have two dogs, three birds and a fish! Regarding Yoga After years of various dabblings in yoga classes, my first serious training was while I was travelling in Australia, New Zealand and Fiji in the mid-1980's.  There I studied at the Satyananda ashrams, (nearly choosing to become a monk, but not quite!).  Upon my return to the U.S., I continued to study and teach yoga in Montana.  During this time I also trained intensively for five years with a chakra-based program of self-development, which while not taught as "yoga", has informed my chakra-based yoga practice immensely. I have taught and studied yoga ever since, in all our locations: New Mexico, Pennsylvania and Oregon.  I have used yogic concepts and practices, along with my other background,  in developing several seminars:  The Healthy Healer, The Gift of Touch, and Deep Relaxation.  In Oregon, I've been teaching at Linn-Benton Community College, in both yoga and relaxation/massage, as well as an occasional seminar and a bit of massage trading. In the summer of 2001, I resolved to update and renew myself, yoga-wise, and enrolled in a month-long 200 hour Teacher Training at the Ananda school, the Expanding Light Retreat Center in northern California. This training was a glorious experience, and as a bonus, has qualified me as a Registered Yoga Teacher with the Yoga Alliance (YA).  The YA is an organization dedicated to establishing standards of safety and competence for yoga instructors, while honoring the vast range of variations in the ancient yogic tradition.      I am passionate about yoga, and about life.  I am honored and eager to help guide you on this many-petalled path.  I thank you and all my other teachers, and hope that I may be of service to you.      I also own and operate Corvallis Wellness Services through which I offer counseling, massage, meditation and intuition training.
